Adoption of the Decision by the African Union to establish the AIIL

Signing of the Seat Agreement with the Government of Tanzania

Signing of Seat Agreement 12-03-13 – Ambassador Sani L. Mohammed, Acting Rector of the AIIL and Hon. Bernard K. Membe, Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, Dar es Salaam.

AIIL took possession of offices allocated by the Tanzanian Government at the Arusha International Conference Centre, and the three staff assumed duties.

AIIL participated in the Seminar on Judicial Dialogue with National Judiciaries organised by the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights. 

AIIL participated in the Launching of the African Law Library by the African Innovation Foundation.

AIIL participated in the Validation Workshop of the draft Concept Note on the broad areas of the international criminal justice system, peace, justice and reconciliation as well as the impact/actions of the ICC in Africa and the ways of strengthening African mechanisms to deal with African challenges, held in Arusha.

AIIL participated in the Stakeholders Conference on Climate Change, Law, Development and Diplomacy held in Nairobi, Kenya, organised by Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, Directorate of Rule of Law in Sub Saharan Africa.

AIIL participated in the Conference on Institution Building and Migration in the Horn of Africa, held in Djibouti, on the invitation of Konrad Adenauer Stiftung co-organizers with Greater Horn Horizon Forum (GHHF) and Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).

AIIL participated in the Judicial Exchange Programme for Judges of the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, jointly organized by GIZ and Commonwealth Judicial Training Institute.
