Lena divides her time between providing Programme Support to the AIIL and freelancing as a Conference Interpreter and Translator.
Having initially studied biology (Bachelor’s), she later opted for languages and holds two Master’s degrees respectively with a French major and an English major, as well as a PGDip in Translating/Conference Interpreting. She also speaks Swahili. As a Language Professional, clients and employers she has worked with include United Nations agencies, African Union, international tribunals and organizations, NGO’s, Ministries, Alliance française, the education sector and the private sector. Since 2004, she also held a number of positions involving Programme Assistance and Communication in educational and cultural institutions as well as NGO’s in Australia, New Zealand, France and The Netherlands.
